SUMMARY

The State Fair of Texas is seeking a Guest Services & Hospitality Assistant for the 2021 State Fair. This person focuses assists the Guest Services Management for an overall guest experience, customer service, and builds partnerships with other departments to ensure that guests’ needs are attended to promptly. The candidate is responsive to situations and activities that take place leading up to, during, and following a guest visit to the annual State Fair of Texas.

Responsibilities may include: delivering remarkable guest services; answering a multi-line phone system; working in a Fair information booth, will call booth, phone bank, or in guest relations; be an ambassador for the State Fair; be proactive with guests to answer any questions and resolve any issues; be flexible in handling guest situations while maintaining a positive attitude; constantly interact with guests and staff; help create lifelong positive memories for our guests; and assist with the Fair’s overall guest services activities to continuously improve the overall guest experience. This will include pre-Fair preparations and post Fair breakdown.

Please note: In order to host a safe event for everyone, all seasonal employees currently working or joining the State Fair in the foreseeable future must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination to HR before we complete the hiring process. The COVID-19 vaccine is essential for us to host an event this fall, which serves as our largest fundraiser and main source of revenue for the year, and we need to ensure that our employees, vendors, and guests are kept safe and healthy.

  • Maintain awareness and possible coordination of public and guest relations activities;
  • Assist with development and distribution of materials and correspondence with fairgoers and the general public;
  • Produce written materials for department and assist other departments when necessary;
  • Assist in cultivation of relationships with fairgoers;
  • Assist in tracking and maintenance of all guest services activities;
  • Assist in execution of special events and promotions;
  • Process payroll timesheets;
  • Project a positive image of all aspects of the State Fair of Texas at all times;
  • Provide a wide variety of general administrative support, including, but not limited to, maintenance of accurate and detailed files and records; verify accuracy of information, research discrepancies, and record information;
  • Respond to requests for information from management/supervisory personnel or guests;
  • Provide information on departmental and State Fair of Texas policies and procedures as required; and transfer inquiries to the appropri­ate individual or department as necessary; receive, resolve, and respond to guest inquiries and complaints;
  • Ensure the safety and security of all guests and staff;
  • Maintain the privacy of all guests as necessary;
  • Be aware of the Fair’s emergency procedures.
