Since its inception in 1886, the State Fair of Texas has celebrated all things Texan by promoting agriculture, education, and community involvement through quality entertainment in a family-friendly environment. The State Fair of Texas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with all proceeds helping to preserve and improve Fair Park; underwrite museum, community, and scholarship programs for inner-city youth and students pursuing agricultural careers; and help improve State Fair operations. Duties:
Coordinate with other departments in an effort to operationally provide the support necessary for production and construction. Assisting in construction needs both before and during State Fair, including replacement, repair, and deconstruction of the SFT grounds. Able to work outside in various weather conditions.
Required Skills:
Ability to drive a forklift. Must have basic knowledge of principles, practices, methods and techniques of building construction and SFT general practices. SFT building standards, basic understanding of building requirements, and other applicable systems. Basic mathematics as applied to electrical/ construction/inspection work. The ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications. Interpret and communicate city codes and ordinances to construction staff in order to properly and safely operate SFT apparatus. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Maintain effective working relationships. Deal tactfully and cost-effectively with contractors. Also must have possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid Texas driver’s license.
