Since its inception in 1886, the State Fair of Texas has celebrated all things Texan by promoting agriculture, education, and community involvement through quality entertainment in a family-friendly environment. The State Fair of Texas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with proceeds helping to preserve and improve our home, Fair Park; underwrite museums, community initiatives, and scholarship programs to support students throughout the Lone Star State pursuing higher education; and help improve State Fair operations. SCHEDULE:

August 1 through approximately October 29, 2021

DUTIES:

Coordinate with General Livestock Superintendent and departmental staff to inspect livestock exhibited at SFT.  Additionally, will require friendly interaction with participants and the ability to clearly communicate directions for unloading and loading livestock to barns.  Able to work outside in various weather conditions.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Familiarity with animals arriving on trailers to be exhibited at fair.  Must be able to understand State and local requirements for animal arrival to events.  Basic knowledge of general livestock health, and respect for animal husbandry.   Ability to deal tactfully with participants, guests, co-workers and contractors.  Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.  Maintain effective working relationships.  Also must have possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid Texas driver’s license.
